I would like to introduce myself as the new editor of Graduate Market Trends. I am taking over from Pearl Mok who has been editing GMT for the last few years and has set a high standard of quality. I look forward to presenting ongoing research and trends in graduate career development and employment and would welcome any feedback, suggestions for articles or themed editions.
We are happy to present more research findings from the PROP (Putting Research Outcomes into Practice) initiative in an interesting article by Dr Paul Greenbank and Sue Hepworth. They report on research with working class students and some subsequent improvements in career practice. In this issue, there are suggestions for how work experience schemes can be a way to improve regional graduate retention, we offer the next instalment in a series looking at aspects of graduate employment in the UK regions, an update on the exciting Futuretrack survey and Pearl Mok looks at unemployment and employment trends for minority ethnic graduates. Finally, we present some new reports from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development which looks at education on an international scale.
I hope you enjoy reading this latest edition.
