Editor's notes (Spring 08)

In the Winter 07/08 issue of Graduate Market Trends, we reported the latest graduate destination figures for the 2006 graduating cohort (What do graduates do? 2008). In this issue, Charlie Ball, HECSU’s Labour Market Analyst, presents results of further analysis of the graduate employment data by region (What do graduates do - regional). We are also very pleased to have Dr Anna Vignoles, an expert in the economics of education from the Institute of Education, to write for us on the debate about ‘oversupply’ of graduates and wage premium issues (The value of a degree).

Despite recent news about the ‘credit crunch’ and the gloomy housing market, recent surveys have revealed that the 2008 graduate job market continues to look healthy, for most sectors and for the time being at least. See the article Graduate recruitment in 2007 and outlook for 2008.

I hope you enjoy reading this latest edition.
