Editor's notes (Winter 08/09)

Welcome to the Winter edition 2008/09

It is the time of year when the new What Do Graduates Do? is out and Pearl Mok from HECSU presents some key findings. The always relevant theme of employability runs through a number of the contributions in this issue. The article by Tony Watts and Val Butcher explores the implications of institutional employability strategies for the role and structure of university careers services. In another article, Emma Worley, director of The Philosophy Shop, outlines how philosophy graduates can map their hard won analytical and reasoning skills to the world of work. Project Director Celia Moran presents a new project starting at the University of Bradford which aims at engaging employers and addressing the higher level skills and continuing professional development needs of the future workforce. From the University of Plymouth Colleges, Marc Lintern and Helen Hicks, writes about the motivation and employment outcomes of Foundation Degree graduates. Finally, Charlie Ball and Stuart Marriott present another instalment in the series looking at graduate mobility and regional graduate employment.

I hope you enjoy reading this latest edition and had a merry Christmas.
